During the ODI World Cup 2023 match between Australia and Pakistan at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, an Australian fan was spotted leading “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram” chants before the Indian fans completed them in sync. On Friday, October 20, Australia managed to defeat Pakistan by 62 runs in a high-scoring encounter to attain two wins on the spin in the flagship tournament.
For the unversed, it was the Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who won the toss and chose to field first on a good batting pitch in Bengaluru. The Australian openers David Warner and Mitchell Marsh were ruthless on the bowlers of the Men in Green, smashing them to all corners of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

They shared the highest opening partnership for Australia in the ODI World Cup, putting together 259 runs in just under 35 overs. David Warner scored 163 off 124 with 14 fours and nine maximums, while Mitchell Marsh got 121 off 108 with 10 fours and nine maximums, to help propel the Australian score to 367/9 in their allotted 50 overs.
In the run chase, Pakistan had a decent partnership at the top of the order, with Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq putting together 131 runs while bringing up their respective fifties. But, thereafter, the Men in Green couldn’t keep the momentum in their batting innings, getting bundled out for 305 all out, after Adam Zampa picked up four crucial wickets in the middle to late overs.
