Australia Women lifted their seventh World Cup title by defeating defending champions by 71-wickets in the final of the 2022 season. Alyssa Healy smashed 170 in a high-stake game and guided Australia to post a massive total of 356-5 in 50 overs of the game. In response, England batters could not put up an impressive performance and suffered a massive batting collapse right from the beginning in front of disciplined bowling attack comprising of Meghan Schutt, Alana King and Jess Jonassen.

Eventually, Jess Jonassen picked her third wicket in the form of Shrubsole, who tried to go downtown on the fullish delivery but could not get the timing and elevation. Ashleigh Gardner, who was standing at mid-off, ran back to complete the catch for Australia as they lifted their record-shattering seventh World Cup title.

As the last wicket got dismissed, Australian players went into ecstasy, cheering for each other and congratulated each one of them for pulling off such a high-stake game. The winners made a huddle to acknowledge the contribution of every player.

However, results brought contrasting emotions in England's dugout as with that end, Shrubsole left in tears as she was representing her side in the ICC tournament for the last time. Sensing the same, Katherine Brunt gave her a tight hug.

For England, Natalie Sciver put on impressive resilience as she scored 148* off 121 balls and kept the hopes of defending champions alive but didn't get any help from any of the batters. While she did everything she could to chase down the massive total, wickets fell from the other end at regular interval. Jess Jonassen and Alana King were the pick of the bowlers for Australia, sharing six wickets between them.
