Chennai Super Kings (CSK) young batter Ayush Mhatre was seen having a conversation with Mumbai Indians’ (MI) legendary opener Rohit Sharma after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between the two sides played at the Wankhede Stadium on April 20. Playing his debut IPL game, Mhatre batted confidently at number three and produced a 32-run knock off 15 balls against MI’s quality bowling attack. However, his team couldn’t play as per their reputation and gave away the game to the hosts eventually to record a crushing nine-wicket defeat. This was Chennai’s sixth defeat in the tournament.

After the game, Ayush Mhatre got a chance to meet his idol Rohit Sharma, who batted exceptionally well in the match as an Impact Player and won the player of the match award. Posting the video of the 17-year-old’s meet with the India captain, MI wrote on X, “Mumbaikars चा bond. #MumbaiIndians #PlayLikeMumbai #TATAIPL #MIvCSK.” In the clip, the youngster can also be seen asking the MI veteran how to play a pull shot.

Rohit Sharma regains form, will be expect to hammer SRH in Hyderabad

Against CSK, Rohit Sharma had a blast with his bat as he came heavily on the bowlers and took his team home with an unbeaten 76 off just 45 balls. His knock was studded with 10 boundaries (four fours and six maximums). MI will expect Rohit to continue his form in the upcoming games.

MI’s next encounter is against SRH in Hyderabad on April 23, and the former captain’s responsibility will be to deliver a brilliant start to his team again in the crucial contest. Mumbai are looking confident in their last few games, beating Delhi Capitals (DC) in the away match followed by their victories against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and CSK at home. SRH have looked downbeat in this tournament, winning only two games in their seven outings.
