In pursuit of the 214-run target set by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the 52nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Ayush Mhatre, 17, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener, smashed 26 runs in one over of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the teenage sensation took the veteran Indian fast bowler to the cleaners with some exceptional ball striking, mixing finesse with brute force at times.
After a relatively quiet start of 23/0 in the first three overs of the CSK innings, Ayush Mhatre suddenly went into overdrive against Bhuvneshwar Kumar, one of the best fast bowlers in IPL history. The right-handed batter started off the over with two fours over the RCB veteran’s head on a hard-length ball followed by a yorker before hitting a slower full toss past the left side of the mid-on fielder for four.

The fourth ball of the over was a short ball outside the off stump, which Ayush Mhatre bulldozed over the long-on rope for a maximum. Bhuvneshwar Kumar went towards the leg stump on the fifth ball over the over, which the right-handed batter carted towards mid-off region for a four.
The last ball of the over was a short length delivery outside the off stump, which he glided in style past the short third and backward point fielder for four runs, to put CSK on track in the run chase.
