Babar Azam, the Pakistan cricketer, was spotted limping his way off the field after an apparent injury suffered during a practice session ahead of the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in 2025. While Peshawar Zalmi, the franchise Babar Azam captains, haven’t officially confirmed whether he is injured or not, there is a doubt raised in regards to his availability for the franchise before the start of PSL 2025.
In the video posted on the social media platform X by user Mohammad Noman (@Nomancricket29), Babar Azam could be seen carefully walking up the steps while not putting any pressure on his right leg, looking in a bit of discomfort. While there isn’t any update about the reason for the apparent injury to the Pakistan talisman, his non-involvement in the Peshawar Zalmi plans during the PSL 2025 could be a big blow.

If there isn’t any update shared from Peshawar Zalmi in regards to the fitness of Babar Azam in the next couple of days, then the situation will highly likely sort itself out. Peshawar Zalmi are slated to begin their 2025 campaign under Babar Azam’s captaincy against Quetta Gladiators captained by Saud Shakeel at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on April 12, which is just a couple of days away.
Moreover, Peshawar Zalmi, who were crowned champions of the PSL for the first-time in 2017, will need Babar Azam to be fit and firing, to give themselves the best chance to win the coveted title for the second-time in history.
Below is the Peshawar Zalmi squad for the PSL 2025 season:
Babar Azam (c), Saim Ayub, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, George Linde, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Haris (wk), Abdul Samad, Hussain Talat, Nahid Rana, Arif Yaqoob, Najeebullah, Max Bryant, Mehran Mumtaz, Sufyan Muqeem, Ali Raza, Maaz Sadaqat, Ahmed Daniyal, Alzarri Joseph, Mitchell Owen, Luke Wood
