With her Russian counterpart already taking the first set, this incident took place with Bianca already leading the second set 2-0.

The young player received on-court medical attention but was later taken away on a wheelchair. “I have never felt this much pain,” the Canadian player said as she was left in tears.

Not only this, but she also received a heartwarming gesture from the spectators as well her opponent at the court. While the Russian hugged her before she was taken off the court, the spectators also gave a standing ovation and wished for her speedy recovery.

Ekaterina Alexandrova will now go head-to-head against Czech tennis professional Petra Kvitova on March 30 in the Quarterfinals.
