During the ODI tri-series final between Pakistan and New Zealand, which is currently ongoing at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, a black cat interrupted play for a brief period after storming onto the field. The cameraman was quick to capture the black cat wandering around the ground, making the commentator Danny Morrison go gaga, and when the fans in the stadium saw a glimpse of the feline, they also adored its presence.

The short clip of black cat was shared by the official X account of the Pakistan cricket team, and it also had a snippet from earlier in the day wherein the feline was nearly caught by a flying eagle wandering around the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. On both the occasions, the officials at the stadium managed to escort the black cat off the field after a few minutes, allowing the play to continue in the ODI tri-series final between Pakistan and New Zealand.

Notably, in the summit clash, Pakistan were bundled out for 242 runs in 49.3 overs after some key contributions from captain Mohammed Rizwan, Salman Agha, and Tayyab Tahir, while for New Zealand, Will O’Rourke picked up four wickets. In the run chase, as of this writing, the visitors are comfortably placed at 195/4 in 39 overs with Tom Latham and Glenn Phillips at the crease, needing just 47 runs in 66 balls to win the trophy.

Moreover, Pakistan will be taking on New Zealand in the opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, a Group A clash at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday, February 19. With that, the outcome of the ongoing ODI tri-series final will have a lot of importance for both Pakistan and New Zealand in terms of their preparation for the upcoming ICC tournament.

Pakistan are defending their Champions Trophy title at home, which they won eight years ago in a one-sided final against arch-rivals India.
