Brazil thumped their authority as they progressed in the Quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup 2022 on Monday. The Thiago Silva-led side beat South Korea 4-1 with star player Neymar Jr. returning to field.

Following Monday’s last 16 match at the Stadium 974, the Brazil players paid tribute to ailing legend Pele. The football great is currently receiving treatment in Sao Paulo due to his ailing health. The players unfurled a banner with the picture of the legend.

The fans at the Stadium 974 also paid tribute to the legend in the stands. Earlier there were reports of the legend being moved to end-of-life care after he reportedly stopped responding to the chemotherapy . However, the 82-year-old took to Instagram to share a message after such reports took the internet by blow.

“My friends I want to keep everyone calm and positive thinking. I’m strong, very hopeful, and following my treatment as usual. I want to thank the whole medical and nursing team, for all the zeal I’ve been receiving. I have a lot of faith in God and every message of love I receive from you, coming all over the world, keeps me full of energy”, he wrote.

The only player to win three World Cups (1958, 1962 & 1970), Pele also said that he is watching Brazil in the World Cup.
