Italian club Como’s manager and all the players erupted in exuberant joy after they found out that their club had been promoted to the Serie A championship on Friday. The development came following Como’s 1-1 draw with Cosenza to secure the second spot in the Serie B and retain the top tier grade after 21 years.
Como, who were part of the Serie D just half a decade ago, came to the second tier within no time and now following a grueling tie against William Viali’s team, they are now in the top tier of the Italian league. Visiting side’s Gennaro Tutino struck his 20th goal of the second-tier system to put Cosenzo ahead in the game just 30 minutes into the game.
However, Thierry Henry-owned side came back in the later half of the match when Simone Verdi pulled off a 75th-minute goal from the penalty spot to equalize the game. Furthermore, Spezia, who defeated Venezia by 2-1 also upgraded to the top tier and became the second team to do so.
When the moment finally came, the whole team erupted in unison as all the team members romped over and hugged each other and led their home ground to honor the fans of the Italy-based club. Following their promotion, the former Barcelona and Chelsea legend Cesc Fabregas also delivered a stunning speech where he congratulated the team and fans and also ensured a dedicated journey from the next morning itself.
