Chinese-born Qiyu Zhou, popularly known by her Twitch name, akaNemsko, was in the middle of an intense chess match when an earthquake struck in the United States. She noticed her desk and floor shaking but maintained her calm and carried on with her match, which was being live-streamed on Twitch.

She was playing against Alexandra Botez, who is another popular streamer. She is a five-time Canadian National Girls Champion and also won the U.S. Girls Nationals at age 15. Zhou was the first to notice the earthquake, as she said, “Did you guys feel that? I am having an earthquake right now, guys.”

The camera can be seen shaking in the stream, as the picture gets disrupted. However, both players kept playing the game in spite of the natural calamity. The earthquake was reportedly a big one, measuring 5.1.  Zhou posted the video herself on Twitter, with a quirky caption. She wrote, “Not even an earthquake during a hurricane can save @alexandrabotez from check mate😂  Try harder LA weather!”
