Oklahoma City Thunder star Chet Holmgren recorded nine blocks in a last-second thriller against the Denver Nuggets. Nuggets hosted the Thunders in an exciting clash on Saturday night at the Ball Arena. The clash saw the visitors taking revenge for their early season loss in the last second and beat them 118-117. It was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s go-ahead jumper in the last 0.9 seconds that helped his side record a notable win.

However, it was Thunder’s rookie Chet Holmgren who stole the show by recording nine blocks in the game. Chet became the first rookie in NBA history to record 9+ blocks and at least one three-pointer in a single game. Five of Holmgren’s blocks came in the third quarter alone and he finished the game with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Though he missed a triple-double with just one block, Holmgren now holds the record for most blocks this season.

The 21-year-old’s blocks came against Nikola Jokic, DeAndre Jordan, twice against Aaron Gordon, Michael Porter Jr., thrice against Peyton Watson and Jamal Murray. The Minnesota-born is averaging 4.5 blocks per game during December, and throughout the season, he has been delivering first-round value in 9-cat leagues.

Coming back to the game, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 25 points, whereas Jalen Williams scored 24 points, Luguentz Dort 13, Isaiah Joe had 12 and Jaylin Williams had 11 for Oklahoma City. On the other hand, Nikola Jokic scored 24 points and 12 assists whereas Michael Porter Jr. finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Aaron Gordon had 16 points as Jamal Murray scored 15, Christian Braun had 14 and Peyton Watson added 13 for Denver.
