The 29th game of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) has started in a great fashion for Delhi Capitals. While they managed to remove in-form batsman Chris Gayle for mere 13 runs, it was one of the rare incidents that Gayle got out right after hitting a maximum.

The incident took place in the last over of the powerplay. After losing Prabhsimran for 12 runs, both Mayank Agarwal and Chris Gayle stitched 18 runs for the second wicket before Gayle got dismissed in an unlucky way. The southpaw welcomed Kagiso Rabada in his second over with a six over deep square leg with a pull shot. While it was a familiar scene for cricket fans, the next scene was a bit unfamiliar as Rabada had the last laugh.

It was a full toss delivery which he bowled at 143.4kph, Gayle went back to tap it into the off-side but got beaten on the outside edge as the ball swung and hit his off-stump to see him depart after a 9-ball 13 with a four and a six. Punjab posted 39 runs inside the powerplay with the loss of 2 wickets.

Here is the video of the incident:

Earlier in the day, Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to field first. Notably, Punjab Kings' regular captain KL Rahul has been hospitalised with acute appendicitis. In his absence, Agarwal took over the captaincy duties. During the toss, he expressed his sadness over Rahul's absence but promised to play a good brand of cricket. While Mayank returned from injury to fill the void of Rahul, Punjab included Dawid Malan in the playing XI in place of Nicholas Pooran.

As far as the Delhi Capitals team are concerned, captain Rishabh Pant praised his side after the toss. He added that they are currently focusing on the process as he believes there is a scope of improvement in each day. He also shared that he is enjoying every bit of his new role as a captain. Delhi are playing the match with same XI.
