What a beautiful and emotional ride Christian Eriksen's return to the football field has been in the recent months. While fans were shocked when he collapsed on the field while on national duty for Denmark during Euro 2020 last year, he was not only saved after what was diagnosed as a cardiac arrest but has even managed to return to the football field.

Eriksen was once again in the middle of the limelight on Saturday when his Brentford were up against his former club Tottenham Hotspur at the Brentford Community Stadium. Notably, the 30-year-old had spent over six years at the Spurs change room and even played a part in helping Tottenham reach the UEFA Champions final in 2019.

Understandably it was a touching moment and Eriksen even embraced some of his former teammates in the tunnel before the kick-off. He continued to get a warm reception from all corners of the ground during and after the match which ended in a goalless draw.

However, a moment that stood out after the game was when Eriksen took time out to sign a Tottenham fan shirt that had his name on the back of it. As he did so, there was even more applause and standing ovations for the footballer before he made his way back to the tunnel.

Here is the video:

"It's emotional to play against him. It's strange to play against him," Spurs star Eric Dier told Sky Sports.

"I've spent most of my professional career playing with him. I never imagined playing against him under these circumstances," he added.

However, in the end, he concluded that he doesn't care if he is playing against them and is only happy to see the Danish footballer healthy again.
