After losing the Saudi Pro League 2023-24 title with a huge margin of 16 points from Al-Hilal, Luis Castro's Al-Nassr lost another title against the Jorge Jesus' side as Al-Hilal won the 2024 Saudi King's Cup final on penalties claiming the domestic double. Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo was moved to tears after the disheartening loss and later spotted limping while leaving the stadium.
Al-Hilal striker Aleksandar Mitrovic put his side in front in the seventh minute with his header. After a long-fight, Al-Nassr midfielder Ayman Yahya scored two minutes before the regulation time and forced the game into extra time.
A goalless extra tie resulted into penalties where both Mitrovic and Ronaldo scored for their respective sides, however, it was Al-Hilal goalkeeper Yassine Bounou who won the match for his side with two spectacular saves. During the match, the 39-year-old Ronaldo also tried a overhead kick which hit the post, however, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner was any ways offside.

After losing the game at the King Abdullah Sports City in the presence of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, which was Al-Nassr's third loss against Al-Hilal in five games this season across all competitions, Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo was moved to tears.

Apart from the loss, Cristiano Ronaldo suffered an apparent injury during the game as the leading goal scorer of in football history was seen limping as he walked off the stadium.

After losing the Saudi King's Cup final against Al-Hilal on Friday, Al-Nassr ended the season without a silverware as they lost the Saudi Super Cup semi-final against Al-Hilal in April after losing the AFC Champions League quarter-final against UAE club Al-Ain, who went on to win the competition and also defeated Al-Hilal in the semi-final.
