Dhruv Jurel was used as a substitute in place of wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant in the Lord’s Test. Pant got injured during the post-lunch session of the first day of the match when he dived to collect a ball bowled by Jasprit Bumrah, which had struck the thigh pad of Ollie Pope. After that incident, he was seen in agonising pain, and post the assessment by the physio, Rishabh Pant left the field. After that, Jurel took over the wicketkeeping duties for the Indian cricket team in the remainder of the first innings of England and in their second innings too, while Pant played as a batter only.
Following the conclusion of the third Test at Lord's in London, which India lost by 22 runs to find themselves 2-1 behind in the series, a video involving Dhruv Jurel is getting viral on social media. Since the 24-year-old was not part of the playing XI of India in the Lord's Test, he was seated near the boundary ropes when the team was playing. In the video, a fan cheekily asked him for some water. Jurel happily obliged in a heartwarming gesture by taking out a water bottle from a box and tossed it towards the fan, much to the crowd’s delight.

Dhruv Jurel took three catches in the first innings of Lord’s Test vs England
Coming in as Rishabh Pant’s replacement, Dhruv Jurel did a rather splendid job as the substitute wicketkeeper. He took three important catches in the first innings, which included the pivotal catches of Ollie Pope, Jamie Smith, and Chris Woakes. Ollie Pope and Joe Root were set on the crease with a 100+ partnership, and then, on the first ball after tea Ravindra Jadeja provided the much needed breakthrough. Jurel followed the ball till the very last minute, and as a result he got hold of the ball post the deflection from the edge of the bat.
England won the Lord’s Test after a dramatic end on the day five, defeating India by a margin of 22 runs. With this big win, England have a 2-1 lead in the series. Both the sides will face each other in the much awaited fourth test of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, to be played at Old Trafford, Manchester from July 23 onwards.
