Nep al’s power-packed batter Dipendra Sigh Airee registered his name in the elite list of cricketers who smashed six maximums in an over. Ariee, who scripted history in the 2023 Asian Games for recording the fastest half-century, joined the likes of Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard in the feat. The Nepal batter achieved the feat against Qatar in their second match of the ongoing ACC Men’s Premier Cup 2024.
During the game at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Al Amerat, Oman, Airee hit six towering sixes in the 20th over of his side’s innings. The 24-year-old hit a total of three boundaries and seven maximums to put together a brilliant knock of 64* runs off 21 deliveries. Powered by Airee’s knock, Nepal posted a huge total of 210 runs in 20 overs.
While Nepal’s opener Kushal Bhurtel got dismissed for 11-ball 12 off an Amar Farooq’s delivery, and skipper Rohit Paudel could only manage to contribute 18 runs off 17 deliveries, Airee stood by the team’s side and took the score beyond 200-run mark. Notably. Airee made a name for himself in the 2023 Asian Games, when he broke Yuvraj Singh’s 16-year-old record of 12-ball T20I fifty.
The Bhimdatta-born cricketer first made heads turn at the tender age of 15 when he became the youngest batter to score a one-day international half-century. While achieving this feat, Airee broke the record of Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar.
