What a passage of play it has been at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Wednesday. While New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first, Pakistan was the better team in the powerplay. Although Finn Allen started off proceedings with the bat for New Zealand with a boundary off the first ball, his stay at the wicket was rather short-lived with him departing on the third ball of the innings.
Just when it felt that Devon Conway and Kane Williamson have provided some stability with the ones and twos and a couple of good looking-strokes, Conway ran himself out, trying to go for a quick single in the last ball of the powerplay. The left-handed batter wanted to take a single, but it was Shadab at mid-off who collected the ball nicely and fired in an accurate throw to catch Conway short of his crease. Consequently, the Kiwis ended the first 6 overs at 38/2.
