In a series of unexpected events at the Madrid Open 2023 first round match between Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Adrian Mannarino, a duck halted the game midway. Thomas Martin Etcheverry roared past the Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 6-4, 6-0 to advance to the second round of the ATP Masters 1000 event, which lasted for 1 hour and 12 minutes. He will now go head-to-head with American Frances Tiafoe.
However, the highlight of the match was when the duck entered the court out of nowhere, and ran across the court, which halted the game for a while. The players on the court joined the spectators in disbelief as a ball boy chased the duck before the duck finally flew aways, letting the game resume. In a hilarious video that has been making rounds on social media, a ball boy can be seen chasing the duck that halted the game when the bird decided to jog around the court before finally flying away.
