The grand finale of the Indian Premier League 2023 between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans was postponed to reserve day on Monday, May 29 due to rain playing spoilsport. On Sunday night at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, as the rains came pouring down, the fans looked for cover in and around the venue, to protect themselves from getting soaked.
In one such incident, the fans were spotted taking cover under Virat Kohli’s poster, which they took down at the stadium, to avoid the rain. The video was posted on Twitter by a user with a striking caption, "Last Night Can't Believe This, Narendra Modi Stadium." In the short clip, the people were heard chanting “Kohli… Kohli…” The tweet has gone viral on the platform since then.

Notably, the IPL 2023 Final will now be played on May 29, Monday. The weather forecast on reserve day isn’t ideal in Ahmedabad, but it is expected to be far better than what had transpired last night. If both the IPL finalists are unable to take the field at the Narendra Modi Stadium due to rain or any other unforeseen reason, then the trophy will be awarded to Gujarat Titans by virtue of finishing on top of the points table after 14 matches, ahead of Chennai Super Kings.
Hence, many fans and experts are hopeful that the weather gods will abate the city of Ahmedabad later on May 29, so that the winner of the Indian Premier League 2023 gets decided only after a proper game of cricket has been played between CSK and GT.
