Luuk de Jong, the former Dutch footballer, was a part of PSV Eindhoven towards the end of last season before his contract with them ran out. The 34-year-old played for the club in two separate stints. In his first stint, De Jong competed more than 200 games for the club and scored more than 100 goals for them, helping PSV to win the Eredivisie thrice. Luuk re-joined the club in the year 2022, bringing home the Dutch domestic title on two occasions over the last three seasons.

And now, Luuk de Jong is ready for a new chapter in his career in Portugal. During a pre-season friendly match of FC Porto against Atletico Madrid at their home stadium Estadio Do Dragao, the Portuguese club announced the surprise signing of Luuk De Jong in front of thousands of their fans. Luuk walked out from the tunnel in the FC Porto jersey, leaving the fans in complete shock and disbelief. This move was considered to be a major surprise for the fans as there was no speculation leading to this transfer.

Luuk de Jong signs for FC Porto on a one-year contract

Luuk de Jong has joined FC Porto as a free agent. The Dutchman has signed a one-year contract with the Portuguese club. His experience and goal-scoring ability are expected to be valuable assets for the team as they aim for success in domestic and European competitions. De Jong is set to work with ex-Ajax head coach Francesco Farioli in their quest to be serious title contendors in the Portuguese league. 

As mentioned earlier, Luuk de Jong has played club football for the most of his career at PSV Eindhoven, first from 2014 to 2019 and then from 2022 to the present, winning the Eredivisie five times, most recently in the previous season. With the experience of winning trophies, he will look to leave a mark on FC Porto by scoring a lot of goals to guide the team to the Portuguese league title.
