The newly-crowned Premier League champions Manchester City celebrated their 7th league title in style as they defeated Newcastle United 4-3 in a thrilling contest on Friday. While some key players were rested for this match, it was young Ferran Torres, who stole the show as he scored three brilliant goals. In the process, Torres (aged 21 yrs, 75 days) became club’s third youngest Premier League hat-trick scorer after Mario Balotelli (20yrs, 138 days) and Raheem Sterling (20 yrs, 313 days). The Spaniard also produced one of the goals of the season in the 42nd minute of the game.

Goal of the 2020-21 season?

The exciting game was approaching half-time with the score tied at 1-1 when Manchester City got a free kick in a dangerous position. IIkay Gundogan whipped in a pacy delivery inside the box as Ferran Torres cleverly lost his marker. Jonjo Shelvey attacked the ball and produced a brilliant flick from the back of his heel as the ball sailed over the flying Dubravka. While the commentators initially thought that there was a slice of luck in that goal, the replays showed that it was a moment of brilliance from Torres, making it one of the leading contenders for the Goal of the Season.
