With the evolution of cricket, fielding standards have also gone up. Acrobatic catches are now a regular affair in T20 cricket. But despite so many such catches being taken across the globe, it’s always thrilling to have a look at one. Grace Harris took one such stunner in the ongoing Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) on Tuesday (18 October).

In a match between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades, Harris took an absolute screamer to get rid of Hayley Matthews. The Brisbane Heat fielder turned a bird as she flew to her left to get hold of a well-struck lofted extra cover drive. The incident took place in the seventh over of the Renegades’ innings.

On the second delivery of the 7th over, Amelia Kerr bowled a loopy delivery inviting Mathews for a big hit. The batter accepted the invitation with both hands as she made room and played a terrific, lofted shot wide of the extra cover fielder. With ample timing and power on the shot, the ball was travelling at a decent pace.

However, Harris sensed an opportunity for a catch and made full-stretched dive to her left. And she was able to get to the ball with her both hands, pulling off an absolute stunner. The video of this special effort from Harris was shared on Cricket Australia’s Twitter page with an interesting caption. “The word 'screamer' gets used pretty loosely these days, but this from Grace Harris certainly qualifies!”, tweeted cricket.com.au.

It was a memorable game for Harris as the Brisbane Heat player earlier hit a half-century and helped her team set a decent total. The opening batter scored 65 runs off 50 balls before perishing to Shabnim Ismail. Georgia Redmayne was another star for Brisbane as the batter scored an unbeaten 98 off just 67 balls.
