In Race 2 of the GT World Challenge in Misano, spectators relishing the competition witnessed a massive fireball crash. Georgi Donchev, who was racing his GRT Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 broke into the high-speed corner of Turn 11, moved in front of Darren Leung’s BMW M$ GT3 EVO. Leung, who strove to lift while fighting for the spot, pushed Huracan into the wall, which led to the Lamborghini’s collision with the barrier. The crash resulted in the massive fireball explosion. Driver Georgi found himself fortunate as he ran out of the car and survived the accident.
It was Georgi’s alacrity that helped him to unbuckle himself and leave the car. His escape was unprecedented and it left spectators dazed and relieved at the venue. Despite the huge explosion, Donczew emerged from the scene unharmed. His agility is now receiving appreciation from the motorsport community. Following the match, Leung, whose car clashed with Donchev’s Lamborghini, spoke to the GT World Challenge broadcast after the race and said “The tiniest of touches between us had the biggest consequences.” The Bulgarian was cleared from the on-site medical center.

The incident led to the elimination of the Bronze-rated driver
Gabriel Rindone, with the No. 80 Lionspeed GP Porsche 911 GT3 R, was also evicted in the incident, as he unintentionally damaged his car after getting touched by the stationary Lamborghini. Marvin Kirchhoefer’s number 59 Garage 59 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, resisted a challenge from Raffaele Marciello’s number 46 Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 EVO .
Maro Engel moved the No. 48 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo into third spot ahead of the number 96 Rutronik Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R controlled by Sven Mueller.
