The big final of IPL 2022 is underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT). After winning the toss, RR captain Sanju Samson opted to bat first but his team lost an early wicket in the form of Yashaswi Jaiswal. The southpaw perished while trying to pull Yash Dayal.

This early breakthrough from Dayal allowed GT captain Hardik Pandya to introduce Lockie Ferguson into the attack. With an early edge in the game, Ferguson looked pumped up. He was bowling extremely quickly against Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler. In the process, he also bowled the fastest delivery of IPL 2022.

On the last delivery of the 5th over of RR innings, Ferguson put in some extra effort and clocked 157.3 kph. He surpassed Umran Malik who had bowled 157 kph during the league stage of the tournament.

RR find it tough!

While Lockie Ferguson was rushing RR batters with sheer pace, his captain Hardik Pandya was doing it with his length. The right-arm quick finished the innings with brilliant bowling figures of 4-0-17-3. Pandya took the three most important wickets of Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, and Shimron Hetmyer. RR batters looked clueless against Pandya and other GT bowlers as well.

Rashid Khan also impressed with his spell of 1/18 (4). Mohammed Shami (1/33) and Sai Kishore (2/20) also chipped in to make batting tough for RR. Such was the dominance from GT bowlers that Buttler's 39 off 35 balls was the highest score in the RR innings. The team also could only get to 130/9 in their 20 overs.
