Afghanistan and Sri Lanka are locking horns in the 32nd match of the T2 0 World Cup 2022 on Tuesday (1 November). Mohammad Nabi won the toss and opted to bat first. Afghanistan got off to a decent start with Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Usman Ghani, and Ibrahim Zadran scoring in the 20s. However, regular wickets kept the Afghans’ scoring rate in check.

Mohammad Nabi and Gulbadin Naib were trying to build a partnership after the team lost Najibullah Zadran but a communication gap between the two meant a wicket for Sri Lanka. In the 18th over of Afghanistan’s innings, Nabi and Naib tried to sneak two runs but could not complete the run as Naib fell to the ground while returning to the crease. He also injured himself in the process.

Nevertheless, Afghanistan managed to put a good total on the board. The Mohammad Nabi-led team scored 144/8 in their 20 overs. Afghanistan were outdone by a fabulous spell for Wanindu Hasaranga. The Sri Lanka spinner bagged three wickets in his four overs and only gave away 13 runs. Lahiru Kumara also did a good job to scalp two wickets in his spell of four overs.
