Magnus Carlsen has looked fabulous in the recent tournaments in current times. This month, he emerged victorious in SuperUnited Croatia Rapid and Blitz 2025 and claimed his domination again. This year, he has won most major tournaments except for Bundesliga 5-6 rounds and Freestyle Weisenhauss. Now, he will aim to be at his best in Freestyle Las Vegas, set to be played from July 16 to 20. However, in recent times, he hit the headlines for his defeat against D Gukesh at Norway Chess and SuperUnited Rapid Croatia 2025. However, in both tournaments, he silenced his critics after winning the titles.

A day ahead of the Freestyle Las Vegas tournament, players attended a technical meeting. At the event, Carlsen and his nemesis USA’s Hans Niemann were also present. During the programme, Carlsen cracked a joke and said, “You cannot make like people put on have fans and turn tables," which left his arch-rival in splits.

Niemann last featured in the Karpov Cup, which was held in Moscow from May 21 to 23.

Discussing Indian players, R Praggnanandhaa, Arjun Erigaisi, and Vidit Gujrathi will record their presence in the tournament. Praggnanandhaa ended his last tournament, 2025 SuperUnited Rapid & Blitz Croatia, in the ninth spot with 15 points. Gukesh was the most successful player for India as he concluded the competition with 19.5 points, accumulated through 14 rapid points and 5.5 blitz points.
