Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh shared a hilarious meme on Australia pacer Mitchell Starc’s IPL deal in the IPL 2024 auction. Starc became the most expensive player in the history of the IPL after he was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 24.75 Crore at the player auction. Starc recorded the feat by surpassing his teammate, Pat Cummins’ record, who earlier became the most expensive player in the same auction.
The 2023 World Cup-winning captain was roped in by SunRisers Hyderabad for INR 20.5 crore, and he became the first player in IPL history to breach the INR 20 crore mark. In the auction, KKR and Gujarat Titans engaged in an intense bidding war, which resulted in a massive surge in Starc's base price. A few days after the record-breaking player auction, the former India cricketer shared a hilarious meme.
One of Starc’s post-match presentations was dubbed in Hindi, where the cricketer could be seen summarising his IPL deal in Hindi. It was captioned, "Just for laugh." The video garnered reactions in large numbers, including Harbhajan’s former teammate Suresh Raina. Raina responded to the video with some emoticons.
Earlier, the 43-year-old slammed the Indian selectors for not selecting the veteran duo of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane in the Test team. On his YouTube channel, Singh said, “Didn't select Ajinkya Rahane and have left Cheteshwar Pujara out for no reason. These are the two players who have scored runs everywhere. If you look at the previous record Pujara has the same contribution as Kohli had. I don't understand why Pujara has been left out, we still don't have a better batter than Pujara in Test cricket.”
