England players looked in a different mood altogether when they walked out to bat against Pakistan in the 1st Test in Rawalpindi. While the opening pair of Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley stitched a mammoth 233-run partnership, Harry Brook took on Saud Shakeel and smashed six consecutive boundaries against the left-arm spinner.

Brook, who was batting on 60* when Shakeel came in to bowl the 68th over for Pakistan raced to 84*. The England batter hit Shakeel to all corners of the ground to collect a massive 24 runs from the over. While Brook started the over with a boundary in the deep midwicket region, the batter pulled Shakeel in the same region to make it six in six for himself.

England looked unstoppable right from the start as they scored over 6 runs per over from the first over itself. Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett started the assault and it was continued by every English batter that batted on Thursday. While Crawley (122) and Duckett (107) were dismissed after scoring centuries, Ollie Pope too joined the party and notched up a ton.

Harry Brook bettered everyone else as he got to his maiden Test century in only 80 balls. Brook cover drove Naseem Shah for a boundary to bring up his century. The batter stayed at the crease with captain Ben Stokes who too showed no mercy on the Pakistani bowlers. England finished Day 1 after scoring 506 runs for the loss of four wickets in 75 overs.

This was the first instance of a team scoring over 500 runs on the 1st Day of a Test match. Many more records were created on the first day of the 1st Test between England and Pakistan.
