England top-order batter Harry Brook scored the first century of IPL 2023 against Kolkata Knight Riders in Eden Gardens. Brook opened the innings and went all guns blazing scoring 14 runs with three boundaries in the first over. He then continued scoring at a high rate as he stitched up crucial partnerships with SRH captain Aiden Markram and Abhishek Sharma.

But in the middle overs, Brook slowed down when the KKR spinners came on before receiving a lifeline as Suyash Sharma dropped him in the 14th over of the innings. He then continued his carnage and reached the milestone of 55 balls with 12 fours and three sixes.

Reacting to the brilliant knock, Harry Brook talked about how focused on his strengths and took caution against spinners. But the rotation of the strike allowed him to alleviate pressure and continue scoring freely. He also spoke about taking advantage of the powerplay. Brook then revealed that his girlfriend is present in the stadium, and was seen celebrating the century from the stands.

He said,  "I’ve had a bit of trouble with spin, but I wanted to use the powerplay to my advantage. So middle overs wanted to rotate strike and let the other boys do the hitting. It is a belter of a pitch, we need to bowl our lengths rightly and take wickets. We still got a job to do. My girlfriend is here but the rest of my family have just left, I’m sure they’ll all be very happy for me."
