Indian men's team scripted history as they defeated Indonesia to win their maiden Thomas Cup title in the Impact arena in Bangkok. In the final game of the fixture, Kidambi Srikanth defeated Jonatan Christie 21-15 and 23-21 as India swept Indonesia 3-0.  But the most amazing moment of the final was the Indian team's celebration after their victory.

The entire India contingent was on their toes as Srikanth's game was levelled 20-20. But as he inched closer to the victory the excitement started raising and just after Srikanth's winning smash, everyone erupted on the court to celebrate history.

Lakshya Sen started the proceedings as he registered a comeback 8-21, 21-17, 21-16 against Anthony Ginting. This was followed by an 18-21, 23-21, 21-19 Doubles win by Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty over Mohammad Ahsan and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo.

The Indian contingent received a lot of praise for their incredible achievement. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the winning team. He tweeted, "The Indian badminton team has scripted history! The entire nation is elated by India winning the Thomas Cup! Congratulations to our accomplished team and best wishes to them for their future endeavours. This win will motivate so many upcoming sportspersons."

Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur also lauded the performance and announced a cash award of Rs 1 crore for the players. "...This extraordinary feat, with successive victories over Malaysia, Denmark and Indonesia, calls for matching honour by the nation," he tweeted.
