After a long wait of 1019 days, Indian batter Virat Kohli brough t up his 71st international century on Thursday. Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli scored his maiden ton in the shortest format of the game against Afghanistan in their final appearance in ongoing Asia Cup 2022 and equaled the record of former Australian captain Ricky Ponting.

Although Team India got eliminated from the Asia Cup 2022 after facing back-to-back defeats in the Super-4 stage, Virat's performance on Thursday cheered Indian fans who took the streets to celebrate the incredible feat by the legendary batter. Widely regarded as the Greatest of All Time, the 33-year-old achieved the feat with a stylish maximum of the Afghan pacer Fareed Ahmed in the 18.2 over of the first innings. 

Post-Virat's 71st century, entire cricket fraternity bow down to the Indian batter and congratulated him for stamping his authority in the game once again. While 'King Kohli' was the top twitter trend on Thursday evening, several Indian cricket fans took to streets across cities and celebrated the moment by bursting crackers, dancing with friends and by chanting 'Kohli Kohli' in their hostels. The videos of the same has gone viral since then and being widely circulated on social media platforms.

Meanwhile, Kohli remained unbeaten for 122* in 61 deliveries as his century guided India to a handsome total of 212/2 against Afghanistan on Thursday.
