Players from the Indian cricket team were recently seen enjoying themselves in a football session ahead of the India vs. Pakistan fixture of the Asia Cup. Surya Kumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer were some of the players seen playing football in the video posted by the BCCI on Friday.
The players were seen attempting to hit the stumps using a football by their feet, from a distance larger than a regular cricket pitch. This activity took place during one of the indoor net sessions for the Indian team in Sri Lanka. Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shardul Thakur were trying to showcase their football skills along with a member of the support staff.
Iyer seemed to have mastered the talent, as he hit the stumps twice in two attempts. After the second attempt, he exclaimed proudly, "Aaspas bhi nahi hai koi” (No one is even close to me). The video posted on BCCI’s official Instagram handle has gone viral since posting, and has gathered more than three lakh likes in just three hours so far. The video has been captioned, “Target 🎯 That was some face-off 😎Never a dull day, clearly."

It is being reported that the players were involved in an indoor net session instead of the usual outdoor session due to heavy rains in Colombo, which have been persistent over the last few days. Looking at the weather forecast, the authorities have granted a reserve day only for the highly anticipated India-Pakistan clash scheduled for Sunday, and the Asia Cup final.
The Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup has begun, where the top four teams, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, will play against each other in a round-robin format. India will square off against Pakistan on September 10, followed by matches against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on September 12 and 15. All the matches will be held in Colombo.
