On Sunday, June 8, Portugal became the first team to lift the UEFA Nations League trophy for the second-time in history after getting the better of defending champions Spain 5-3 on penalties after the scoreline was 2-2 at the end of extra-time. Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of Portugal, scored the equaliser in the second half, to ensure that the final didn’t end in regulation time before goalkeeper Diogo Costa saved the crucial penalty from Alvaro Morata in the shootout, to send the world of social media into ecstasy and IShowSpeed joined in on the fun as well.

It was the first half of the UEFA Nations League 2025 final which saw Martin Zubimendi open the scoring for Spain in the 21st minute, but they couldn’t hold on to their lead for much longer as Nuno Mendes equalised for Portugal in the 26th minute. Spain took the 2-1 lead in the 45th minute when Mikel Oyarzabal scored, making a habit of getting big goals in the final after getting the late winner in the UEFA Euro 2024 final against England.

After Cristiano Ronaldo equalised in the 61st minute, both teams came close on multiple occasions to score the winner, but it didn’t happen for either of them as the match went into extra time. The penalty shootout saw Portugal hit their straps in front of goal with Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Bruno Fernandes, and Nuno Mendis scoring before Diogo Costa gave Ruben Neves the opportunity to win the UEFA Nations League with his penalty, which the midfielder duly did.

IShowSpeed is one of the biggest fans of Cristiano Ronaldo

In the immediate aftermath of the UEFA Nations League victory for Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portugal, one of his biggest fans, IShowSpeed, who was wearing his famous number 7 jersey of the Portuguese national team, reacted by saying, “When I said Ronaldo won…. We are now Portugal baby. We up.” It was also the first-ever trophy for Roberto Martinez in international football after he failed to win any silverware during his extended time as head coach of the golden generation of Belgium.

With this big triumph at international level, Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to continue playing into his 40s, especially since the FIFA World Cup will happen in just over 12 months time in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
