World number one ranked tennis player Jannik Sinner faced multiple hiccups during his third round match at the ongoing Cincinnati Open 2025. The Italian, who cruised into the Round of 32 after beating Colombian D Elahi Galan 6-1, 6-1 at the Centre Court on Saturday, went on to defeat his Canadian opponent - Gabriel Diallo 6-7 7-6 (8-6) to progress into the round of 16.
The defending champion who went past the Canadian after the latter’s eight first set double faults and 49 unforced errors in the match, comfortably claimed a win despite multiple interruptions. While Sinner’s match first was disrupted by a power failure, which halted all the matches in the ongoing tennis tournament for about 75 minutes, he later faced another hiccup.

Notably, the play was stopped with Sinner leading the set 4-2 as the audio portion of the electronic line-calling system suddenly failed. Moments later, the LED screens also started flickering due to the power outrage. However, the Italian recovered smoothly after an early break which was caused due to power failure earlier in the game, his game saw another stop as a fire alarm went up.
The incident occurred five minutes later with Sinner leading 1-0 in the second set. An alarm went on somewhere in the stadium and saw the game suspended. Although the two players continued to play with the Italian getting his 23rd consecutive hard-court win.
The top-seeded Jannik Sinner will next take on French tennis player, Andrian Mannarino on Wednesday, August 13 in the round of 16 match.
