Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah delivered a staggering ball to remove Kagiso Rabada during the first Test at the Supersport Park in Centurion. In the last leg of the multi-format, India locked horns with South Africa in a Test match that kicked off on December 26. India settled for a 1-1 draw in the T20I format, followed by a 3-2 win over the hosts in the ODI series. In the first Test of the tour, India were invited to bat first by the hosts, and the Rohit Sharma men were bundled out for just 245 runs in 67.4 overs.
Day 3 of the Boxing Day Test didn’t prove to be great for the Indians as the bowlers failed to concede runs and South Africa proved to be dangerous for them. The hosts made the most of the opportunity and quickly took the lead over their Indian counterparts. Dean Elgar played a brilliant knock of 185 runs before falling prey to Shardul Thakur’s delivery in the 94.5 over. In the first over after lunch, Bumrah sent out an unplayable delivery that struck and removed Kagiso Rabada in the 101st over.
Bumrah delivered a fullish delivery to Rabada that angled into an off-stump. The Protean pacer was struck on the crease and delivered the ball inside the line. The ball held its line passed the outside edge and left the middle stump flying. The South African walked away with a smile and managed just 1 run off 9 balls. Rabada’s wicket marked Bumrah’s third success for the day, and fourth in the first innings.
The hosts were bundled out on 408 runs, as they got a lead of more than 150 runs. The Indians kicked off the second innings on a disappointing note. India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma were dismissed on five and zero, respectively. By the end of 14 overs, India trailed by 111 runs.
