Perth Scorchers clinched their 4th Big Bash League title, after they completely outplayed defending champions Sydney Sixers in the grand finale on Friday. After being asked to bat first, the Men in Orange got off to a terrible start losing four wickets inside powerplay. However, this is when Ashton Turner (54 off 35) and Laurie Evans (76* off 41) stitched a match-winning partnership to take Scorchers to 171/6 in 20 overs.
Sixers, who were missing quite a few batsmen due to injuries and coronavirus, had no answers on the day as they were eventually bundled out on 92, losing the match by a huge margin of 79 runs. It was Jhye Richardson who sealed the title for Scorchers with a dazzling yorker to Steeve OKeefe, who was adjudged LBW.

As expected, the players were all over Richardson in no time and some fantastic scenes were on display, with some wild celebrations. There was a feeling of ecstasy and sheer joy, very evidently visible on the faces of all players.

However, amid all this, Scorchers players did not realize that Richardson had got hit by one of them. The pacer had got a nasty blow on his nose during the celebrations and he was captured on camera, with blood on his face.
A few moments later, the 25-year-old gave an interview to Brad Hodge with an injured nose, where he revealed what had actually happened. With a smile on his face, he explained that someone from square-leg came running towards him and shouldered him, which led to the blood coming out of his nose.
Reflecting on the performance of Scorchers, he said, "It's always interesting to coming back to only play two games. Special mention to all the boys for a job well done. Amazing effort. I love this team"
