Golden State Warriors’ Jimmy Butler attracted attention during his team’s game against Houston Rockets on April 28. In NBA 2024-25 Playoffs Round 1 Game 4, the 35-year-old made a comeback with pelvic and deep gluteal muscle contusions and chipped in with 14 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter. He left an impact on defense down and made a crucial contribution to his side’s 109-106 triumph. During the hiatus in the second quarter, the veteran was involved in a heated exchange with Rockets’ forward Dillon Brooks. Both players are known for being ferocious competitors in the basketball court so their contest didn’t astonish viewers.

In a clip going viral on social media, Butler can be seen saying something with a fierce face but Brooks can be seen laughing after listening to his rival’s remark. Butler also used his hand to alludes towards Brooks while speaking to the referee. Later on, it was revealed that the State Warriors’ star player used cuss words against his competitor.

After the match, when Butler was asked about his conversation with Brooks, the former revealed that he doesn’t like the latter. He said, "Both were not having fun out there when they were having a chat." He also added, "don’t let those smiles hoodwink you." Butler said that he doesn’t like doing this but has to do it. The 35-year-old also said he simply doesn’t enjoy sledging his opponent.

No, we're not having fun. Get me on record for this: I don't like Dillon Brooks. So we're never having fun," Butler emphasised. "I'm a fierce competitor. He's a fierce competitor. But ain't nothing fun about that," he added.

Both will now continue their rivalry in NBA's Playoffs Round 1's Game 5, which will be played on April 30. The Rockets are currently in second place in the Western Conference with 52 wins and 30 losses while the Warriors are holding the seventh position with 48 wins and 34 defeats.
