Katherine Sciver-Brunt had an Illustrious career as a player, taking the field for England for 19 long years. Brunt announced her retirement just a month ago but has not lost contact with the sport as she is a part of the commentary team at the ongoing Women’s Ashes. Not used to speaking on the mic, Brunt accidentally held the mic the wrong way while commentating on day three of the Women’s Ashes Test.
Brunt was immediately corrected by Aussie commentator and former cricketer Mel Jones, who was in the commentary box with her at the time. The duo shared a laugh at the hilarious error from the commentary debutant. Earlier in the Test, Brunt had said that commentating while her wife, Nat Sciver Brunt bats is ‘like marmite’.
The only women’s Ashes Test hangs in balance as Australia scored 473 in the first innings which included a hundred from Annabel Sutherland and a 99 from all-rounder Ellyse Perry. England have struck back as they are currently just four wickets down, closing the 350-run mark with Tammy Beaumont and Danielle Wyatt unbeaten on 168 and 15 respectively at the end of 95 overs.
Katherine Sciver-Brunt had an amazing career playing for England in 14 Tests, 141 ODIs, and 112 T20Is while scalping 335 wickets in all three formats of the game. In the course of her career, Sciver-Brunt won three World Cups - including a Player of the Match performance in the T20 World Cup final against New Zealand at Lord's in 2009 and four Ashes series.
