Match 29 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 saw the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) take on the other joint five-time and reigning champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Earlier in the match, it was the home skipper Hardik Pandya, who won the toss and invited the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side to bat first.

After taking the guards in the middle, CSK posted 206 runs on the board, courtesy a 69-run knock from Ruturaj Gaikwad, along with a crucial unbeaten 38-baall 66 from Shivam Dube and four-ball 20 from MS Dhoni. After a competitive total on the board, it was MI who took the charge in pursuit of the 207-run target.

With the former MI skipper Rohit Sharma looking firm in the middle and the hosts losing three wickets, Hardik Pandya took the guards. With MI needing 75 runs off the last four overs, and Hardik and Rohit in the middle, coach Kieron Pollard along with Mark Boucher and Tim David opted for a strategic time-out. With the umpires unaware of it, Tim David along with the two members of the coaching staff soon walked out on the field after the 15th over.  Check the top betting trends on the  best betting sites in India  and apps.

One of the umpires, who was outside the boundary rope was quick to walk towards them and inform them to walk off the field as the on-field umpires hadn’t signalled for a time-out. Seeing this, the MI trio was seen all fuming in anger as the fourth umpire directed them to take the seats as the window of taking time-out had expired.
