During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the iconic Eden Gardens on April 8, the latter’s content creator Shubham Gaur was seen distributing his team’s jersey to spectators at the venue. While the eminent internet personality was dispersing LSG jerseys, a KKR supporter told Shubham that he is a fan of his. As per a claim from a user on X, Shubham handed his fan an LSG jersey and asked him to wear it over his KKR kit in exchange for a selfie. The fan complied with Gaur's instruction and did the same. As per the X user, Shubham recorded content with the fan. After the incident, the KKR fan was seen in his team’s jersey again.
“Shubham Gaur repeatedly distributed a lot of free LSG jerseys & flags at Eden Gardens. One guy told him that he is his fan. Shubham gave him LSG jersey but asked him to wear it over KKR kit in exchange of selfie & recorded for content. Later after taking selfie he removed it. Shared it just in case they put up some video or content and show these incidents out of context to create a fake perception,” wrote the X user named Sohom (@AwaaraHoon).
Shubham Gaur saw himself in midst of controversy for the David Miller interview in March
This isn’t the first time Gaur has witnessed himself stepping into a controversy. Earlier, the social media influencer drew ire for his questions to South Africa left-handed batter David Miller before the start of the competition. In the promotional Instagram video for LSG, Gaur had asked the Protea southpaw which loss was the bigger for him, World Cup 2023 semi-final against Australia or T20 World Cup 2024 final versus India.
Miller picked up the defeat against India in the T20 World Cup. Shubham’s questions rankled fans as they felt taking Miller back to bitter memories was an insensitive act from the influencer and the LSG franchise.
