The fifth and final Test of the five-match series, currently underway at the Kennington Oval in London, is well poised with all results possible. While the first two days have seen weather hamper play with brief showers coming in especially during afternoon hours, there has been a little drama also on the field in the high-octane clash.
While India resumed their first innings at 204/6 on day two, they could only add 20 runs and were bundled out at the score of 224 in the first 30 minutes. Thereafter, England went onto post 247 in 51.2 over, courtesy four-wicket hauls from Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna respectively. As the home side was in the middle, a heated confrontation took place between Prasidh Krishna and veteran England batter Joe Root.

As things heated up in the middle with the Indian pacer seemingly provoking Root, one of the senior Indian batters, KL Rahul was also seen stepping in support of his bowlers. The incident unfolded in the second session on day two when Krishna targeted Root in an attempt to sledge the veteran batter. However, things escalated a bit, umpire Kumar Dharamsena had to intervene to separate the two.
While the Sri Lanka umpire was seen asking the Indian bowler to remain in his limits, KL Rahul looked displeased and quickly joined in, confronting to the on-field umpire. In the video going viral, KL Rahul was spotted having a pointed conversation, questioning if the Indian players were to take all the sledging in a silence. "What do you want us to do, keep quiet? What do you want us to do—bat, bowl, and go home?" Rahul was heard saying via the stump mic.
