In the match 26 of the Indian Premier League 2023, the Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul tonked a massive 103m six off the bowling of Yuzvendra Chahal of Rajasthan Royals. This is the first IPL match being played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur after 4 long years.

It was the fifth delivery of the 9th over in the LSG’s batting innings, when Yuzvendra Chahal bowled a flighted leg spinning delivery to KL Rahul. The ball was overpitched and in the slot for the Lucknow captain to smack it high in the air over the deep mid-wicket boundary for a huge six. But still, KL Rahul meandered his way to 39 off 32 deliveries against a very potent RR bowling attack.

But during LSG’s defence of 154 run total, KL Rahul marshalled his troops wonderfully well and kept his team in the match for long periods. He wasn’t flustered even after RR got a brilliant opening partnership. Once the 87-run stand between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler was broken, KL Rahul got the squeeze on Royals’ batting innings. Super Giants kept on picking wickets at key intervals and eventually won the match by 10 runs in Jaipur.

In the post match presentation, KL Rahul talked about how LSG pulled out a win against a very strong RR side. He said, “That Samson run out and two wickets falling back-to-back lets you to come back into the game. RR's top three-four are really strong and our plan was to get them out early, and it came via a run-out today.”
