LeBron James-led Los Angeles Lakers eliminated Ja Morant's Memphis Grizzlies in Game 6 of the NBA playoffs 2023 first round. On Friday night, the Lakers ran riot at home by outscoring the Grizzlies by 40 points to clinch the Western Conference semi-final berth. In the last minute of the game, the Lakers bench hit the g r iddy as they eliminated Memphis from the playoffs.

Lakers guard D'Angelo Russell registered game-high 31 points with 70.6 per cent from the field and made 5-off-9 three-pointers, followed by the 38-year-old James, who scored 22 points with 9-off-13 from the field, and two three-pointers. For the Grizzlies, center Santi Aldama recorded team-high 16 points with 6-off-10 from the field as no other Grizzlies recorded 40 per cent FG.

In the final minute of the game, the Lakers bench featuring Rui Hachimura, D'Angelo Russell, and Jarred Vanderbilt among others hit the griddy as their team won by a whopping 40 points and qualified for the next round, knocking out the Western Conference second-placed side in the regular season. The Lakers screamed, "Whoop that trick."

For the Lakers, LeBron James is leading the playoffs scoring 22.2 points per game, followed by Anthony Davis (20.8), D'Angelo Russell (16.7), Austin Reaves (16.5), and Rui Hachimura (14.5). With the win, LA Lakers qualified for the NBA Playoffs semifinals and will face the winner between defending champions Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings, who are tied 3-3 in their first-round series.
