The Lionel Messi-Cristiano Ronaldo GOAT rivalry is inching closer to its final stage as both the legends of the game are in the twilight of their career and far from getting into the battle to prove greatness. However, the duo rolled back years on Wednesday when they faced each other during Paris Saint German VS Ronaldo-led Riyadh All-Star in Season Cup football match at the King Fahd International Stadium.
Although it was a friendly match and was not of any significance for either of the team, but for the football fans it was surely a matter of pride as they got to see their favourite duo together once again. While PSG registered nail-biting 5-4 victory in the match, courtesy to Hugo Ekitike's 78th-minute strike which eventually made the difference for Paris Saint-German. However, what caught everyone’s attention post-match was an Insta story from the Argentine legend.
Football great Lionel Messi took to Instagram to share a video featuring Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo from their pre-match interaction.
Cristiano Ronaldo also shared a post on Twitter with pictures from the friendly match, which included his handshake and hug with Messi right before the kick-off whistle was blown. “So happy to be back on the pitch, and on the score sheet!! And nice to see some old friends!” wrote Ronaldo.
Talking about the match, PSG took a lead in the starting minutes with Messi and Marquinhos finding the back of the net, but the scores were levelled 2-2 by Ronaldo’s brace. The contest remained neck-to-neck in the second half as well before Ekitike’s 78th-minute strike.
