Going back to the final, Michael Vaughan had some praiseful words for the Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya. The ex-Yorkshire star spoke about how Pandya is slated to be the next India captain, especially in white-ball cricket. Talking about his attributes, Vaughan described how he has the mentality and calmness to lead a top side and also praised the all-rounder for how he has made key bowling changes in difficult moments throughout the 2023 season.

While speaking to Cricbuzz, Michael Vaughan said, "He has got the calmness, he has got the game. I'm worried about his injury to his back, but he has just got that persona right in the middle. You can see his body language. The way he manoeuvres his field calmly. The way he makes his bowling changes. Yes, he has got two outstanding spinners and Mohammed Shami, who has been the best seamer in the tournament. You need bowlers as a captain. He has got that Midas touch you need to be an outstanding white-ball captain."
