Notably, Siraj, who is fondly called Miyan by the teammates, dismissed Dhananjaya de Silva in the sixth over of the game, taking Sri Lanka's score to 13 runs at the loss of six wickets. Siraj's first success for the day came in the form of Pathum Nissanka, who was sent back to the pavilion after scoring just 4 runs.

After dismissing De Silva, Siraj clinched the wicket of the Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka on the very next ball. India managed to bundle out their rivals at 50, and successfully chased the score by the first ball of the seventh over of their innings.

For his on-field heroics, the 29-year-old was awarded as the Player of the Final award. The Hyderabad-born cricketer in a heartwarming gesture, dedicated the award to the Sri Lankan ground staff.
