India pacer Mohammed Siraj received a special ring from his Team India captain Rohit Sharma prior to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. The speedster got the ring from Rohit on behalf of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), for valuable contribution to India’s magnificent T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. Appearing in three matches for India at the marquee T20 event, Siraj picked up one wicket at a thrifty economy of 5.18. Under Rohit, India lifted the coveted T20 World Cup trophy for the second time.

After the famous achievement, the BCCI gifted gold and diamond rings to Team India’s T20 World Cup winners at an event held in March 2025. However, Siraj couldn’t attend the event which led to him receiving the reward from Rohit a day before the IPL contest between MI and GT in Mumbai. Both Siraj and Rohit will confront each other in the upcoming game at the Wankhede Stadium on May 6. Previously, both India players took on each other in the IPL game between GT and MI held in Ahmedabad on March 29. Siraj won that battle by cleaning up his senior Team India colleague. This time, the MI veteran will look to settle the scores with the 31-year-old.

MI will look to avenge the defeat they faced against GT on March 29

Both Mumbai and Gujarat will face each other for the second time in IPL 2025. Earlier, GT, as hosts, hammered MI by 36 runs. Riding on the heroics from Sai Sudharsan (63 off 41), Prasidh Krishna (2/18 in four overs), and Siraj (2/34 in four overs), Gujarat bagged a convincing victory against the five-time IPL champions. However, things are different this time as Mumbai will be entering the contest against Gujarat with six wins in a row.

In their previous clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 1, Hardik Pandya and his men clinched a comprehensive 100-run win. Mumbai are placed third on the points tally with seven wins and four defeats in their 11 outings while GT are the next to Mumbai with seven victories and three defeats in 10 matches.
