Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has reached Chennai ahead of the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The World Cup-winning captain received a grand welcome at the Chennai airport where fans were eager to catch a glimpse of Dhoni. The Yellow Army is even more emotional, as it is likely to be Dhoni’s last season .
Dhoni straightaway entered his car and reached the team hotel directly. The Chennai Super Kings social media account shared the pic of Dhoni arriving at the hotel. The photo was captioned "Thala Dharisanam, finally!"Dhoni hasn’t played competitive cricket since May 2022 and will return after a long break of 10 months.

The Indian cricket stalwart will possibly be playing his last season for CSK where his farewell game will be at his home ground Chepauk Stadium. CSK will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders on May 14. This will be Chennai’s last game of the season if they don’t make it to the playoffs.
This development was confirmed by a CSK official, who spoke with InsideSport about this being Dhoni’s final season. The official further stated that the entire organisation will be extremely emotional when the World Cup-winning captain retires. The CSK official said, “Yes, it will be MS’s last season as a player. That is what we know so far. But of course, it’s his decision. “
“He hasn’t officially communicated to the management that he will go into retirement. It is a special occasion for all CSK fans as IPL returns to Chennai. But it will be a sad moment if Dhoni plays his final season,” the CSK official further added. CSK will kick off their 2023 season against defending champions Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
