During the later stages of Chennai Super Kings’ batting innings against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 17, MS Dhoni was going through his standard routine of shadow practising with the bat in the team dugout. But knowingly or unknowingly, when MSD took a swing of the bat, it came perilously close to hitting Deepak Chahar in his face.

The instant reaction from Chahar was to get himself off the firing line of the Dhoni bat swing, amidst hilariously, and then walk away from the CSK dugout altogether. This peculiar moment was caught on live camera, and shortly afterwards, it has gone viral on social media.

Deepak Chahar, who has become one of the most costliest buys for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL auction, is currently on the shelf after injuring his left hamstring. It happened after he bowled the fifth delivery of the first over to Rohit Sharma, the captain of MI, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 8.

The physio came to the middle and gave him some treatment as the play was stopped for a few minutes. Shortly afterwards, Chahar did labour himself to bowl the last ball of the first over before going off to the pavilion for receiving further treatment. He hasn’t been available to CSK for selection ever since.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni batted for only one delivery against Glenn Maxwell of RCB in the last over of the CSK innings in Bengaluru. His team amassed a total of 226/6 in their allotted 20 overs and defended the runs successfully to win the match by 8 runs.
