As the third Grand Slam of the season - Wimbledon 2023 approaches, some players eyeing to make the qualifying mark to enter the main draws of the grass-court event. Among many in Natalija Stevanovic of Serbia. The Serbian, who is currently ranked 223 in the singles ranking progressed in round four of the Wimbledon Qualification round on Thursday, 29 June.

 

The 223-ranked Serb beat M. Bassols Ribera of Spain 7-5, 7-5 to move to the next round. The Serbian beat her 25 th -seeded opponent in a hard fought battle of two hours and five minutes. After her win over her Spanish opponent, she emulated Novak Djokovic’s gesture of tasting grass on the court.

 

Natalija looked towards her box from the court after her win and went down to pick some grass and enjoy it. The video of the same was shared by the Wimbledon social handle with a caption reading, “Natalija Stevanovic (shake hands emoji) @DjokerNole. There’s just something tasty about our grass with a grass and Serbian flag emoji.

Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz top seeds in Wimbledon

 

The Wimbledon on Wednesday, June 28 announced the top ten seeding for the upcoming edition. While Carlos Alcaraz will start as No. 1 in the Gentlemen’s singles, Polish tennis star Iga Swiatek will come into the tournament as No. 1, followed by Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.

 

23-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic will start as No. 2 after Spaniard Alcaraz winning his first-ever grass court title at Queen’s in London on Sunday.
